IT Governance & Risk Management Team Lead

 

My client is a leading provider of retail and SME banking in the Irish market. They are currently seeking a reliable and experienced IT Governance & Risk Management Team Lead to join their team.

 

Your Role: 

As Governance & Risk Management Team Lead, you will play a key role in supporting the management and oversight of the day to day risk & governance activities within Digital Enablement.  Your role will involve leading others and supporting the Digital Delivery & Governance Manager to execute the responsibilities for your team.

 

Responsibilities will include ensuring a proactive and consistent response to regulatory requirements, questionnaires and inspections with a focus on developing an enhanced risk and control environment through sustainable controls operation, documentation and reporting for the Digital Enablement function.

 

As a people manager, you will inspire and motivate your team to adopt the same, high standards of delivery, integrity and competency in their own field.  You will guide and coach your team to support you with the delivery of your team objectives and will yourself be actively involved in the day to day delivery.

 

Your Team: 

You will work within the Digital Governance team as a member of the Digital Enablement function. 

This function is responsible for the delivery of IT Digital Services for the Bank and teams currently include Business Design & UAT, Digital Capability, Digital Delivery, Release & Production Support teams.

 

The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for the oversight of all areas of Governance for the Digital Enablement teams, including Risk (ICF, RSCA, BUC testing, Risk Events/CIPS etc), Finance & Budget compliance, Audit compliance, as well as Supplier governance.  They will also be responsible for the day to day management and performance of any direct reports to them.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Actively lead & support Risk Management within the Digital Enablement
  • Work with the teams to co-ordinate Digital Enablement responses to regulatory requirements, questionnaires and inspections, in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all Digital Enablement risk activities, control environments, control gaps and remedial action plans are fully and proactively documented to a high and consistent standard.
  • Track internal and external audit actions and RMPs (Risk Mitigation Programmes) to ensure successful closure in line with commitments.
  • Positively contribute to the Digital Enablement agenda with a particular focus on improving the understanding of operational and third party risks and monitoring the implementation and operations of appropriate controls.
  • Collaborate closely with the Digital Enablement teams to ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures. Check and challenge where required.
  • Lead, develop and motivate team members to ensure they meet their objectives and achieve their full potential, while fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Build trust and credibility within the team and business by demonstrating a professional approach and good understanding of governance, risk management, risk assessment and control practices.
  • Be a strong communicator and work together with the wider Digital Enablement teams on a regular basis to further enhance knowledge, upskill and develop the business unit to be more risk aware.
  • Build credibility and establish good working relationships across Digital Enablement, other teams within Group Technology, 2nd Line of Defence and 3rd
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Digital Enablement.
  • Support and deputise for the Digital Delivery & Governance Manager as required.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Good experience of governance, risk management, risk assessment and control practices within Retail Banking.
  • Strong Risk Focus. A passion for identifying and containing risk, a desire to increase risk awareness and a positive attitude to managing risks.
  • Practical understanding of the demands of documenting and operating a strong risk and control environment in an IT function.
  • Strong ability to collect, analyse and interpret MI to inform decision making relevant to risk.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, written and verbal, complex information to audiences across functions with differing levels of knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in building and managing relationships at all levels of an organisation
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads appropriately, with strong attention to detail, and show determination and flexibility to deliver to challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to lead, develop and motivate team members.
  • Is adaptable and can problem solve, with strong teamwork, collaboration, trust and respect ethos.

Desired

  • Knowledge of industry standards and guidelines
  • Experience of using JIRA and Confluence IT systems
  • Knowledge of Powerpoint, MS Word, MS Excel
